Vanderbilt Cup Races 1936.




Kept at Museo Tazio Nuvolari in Mantova



In 1936 the Vanderbilt Cup Races returned to Long Island at the new Roosevelt Raceway built in Westbury. The 300-mile race consisted of 75 laps over the 4-mile road course. A total of 45 race cars competed on October 12, 1936.



The race was won by the Italian ace driver Tazio Nuvolari in an Alfa Romeo.This 2-minute newsreel highlights the 1936 George Vanderbilt Cup Race held at the new Roosevelt Raceway on Long Island:
